COM 201: Inter/Group Communictn Skills (COM201)
Provides an introduction to the theory and practice of interpersonal and group communication. The course emphasizes experiential learning, as students apply theoretical concepts to a variety of interpersonal and group discussion exercises. As they becomen, students will put those principles into practice, learning specific applications of communication techniques to work in group settings. Oral communication formats covered in the course include the panel discussion, symposium, and leadership of meetings

COM 295: Introductory Topic in Communication (COM295)
Prerequisite: to be determined by the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts. An introductory study of a specific topic within communication. Prerequisites: ENG 112, COM 122 or with consent of instructor. Techniques of journalism applied to a series of news and feature writing assignments. Attention to writing for broadcast (television and radio) and electronic (online), as well as print media. Includes supervised practical experience with on- and/or off-campus organizations. COM 350: Desktop Publishing (COM350)
Prerequisite: ENG 112 (Suggested prerequisite: CMP 120 or consent of the instructor). Course is designed to acquaint students with the skills necessary to compose and produce journals, newsletters, brochures, advertising, and public relattion materials, using most current word processing software and formatting packages. Students will be expected to master journalistic editing skills as well as creative methods of layout and design. (Offered every fall semester). (LA) (3)

COM 484: Senior Practicum in Communication (COM484)
Students will be placed in on- or off-campus communication internships. They will meet with the faculty evaluator on a bi-weekly basis to report on their progress. Outside readings will be assigned as needed. Evaluation will be based on a report fromm the student's internship supervisor, a portfolio of the student's work during the internship, and a final, written report by the student, integrating relevant theory with the semester's practical experience. May be repeated. (Offered as needed. (3)
