Fieldwork/Field Period Information

Field Period

For each year that an occupational therapy student attends Keuka College, two- 2 week self-initiated Field Periods during the month of January totaling 140 + hours, are required to fulfill the core requirements. Students will be encouraged to complete Field Periods across the life span and in a variety of settings.

Level I Fieldwork

Students will complete two- 2 week Level I Fieldwork experiences during January of their senior year. Level I experiences are set up through the Academic Fieldwork Office in collaboration with the student. Placements are made at contracted sites with experienced OT clinicians in the field.

Level II Fieldwork

Students will complete two, full time 12-week placements arranged by the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in collaboration with the student. In-depth experience in delivering occupational therapy services to consumers will be the focus of these placements at contracted sites. The first placement will be completed in the summer following graduation from the Bachelor's Program with the second placement between graduate semesters, Jan.-Mar.

Clinical Fieldwork Educators

Experienced OT clinicians spend countless hours supervising students in the field of Occupational Therapy. Level I students spend two weeks shadowing clinicians and performing minor tasks. Clinicians supervise level II students for 12 weeks and provide valuable feedback to students preparing for entry-level positions. Interested clinicians with a minimum of one-year experience in the field should contact the Keuka College Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Occupational Therapy Division.

Fieldwork Data Form
This form is completed by the site annually and provides valuable information to students about the site prior to their arrival for level I's and II's.

Student Evaluation of Fieldwork Experience Level I
This form is completed by the student and shared with the clinical educator at the culmination of the level I experience.

Level I: Supervisor Evaluation
This form is completed by the clinical educator and shared with the student at the culmination of the level I experience.

Student Evaluation of Fieldwork Experience Level II
This form is completed by the student and shared with the clinical educator at the culmination of the level II experience.
