Computer Requirements

  • High-speed cable or DSL Internet access is strongly recommended.
  • A personal computer (running at least WindowsXP or Mac OSX).
  • For optimal viewing, set monitor resolution for 1440 x 900.
  • You must have a Keuka e-mail account.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or higher.
  • A word-processor software program (such as Microsoft Word, Corel Wordperfect, Appleworks, iWork Pages, or OpenOffice Writer). Basic text editors, such as WordPad or Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac OSX) are generally inadequate for writing academic papers. If you don't have a word processing program available on your PC, we recommend that you download OpenOffice, a free office suite distributed as open source (also adware-free and spyware-free) and includes all the functions available to Microsoft Office. Visit www.openoffice.org for more details.
  • A web-browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox/Mozilla is preferred, although MoodIe also supports Netscape and AOL web-browser.) Web browsers not supported by MoodIe include Safari, Opera, Linux Konqueror and Internet Explorer for Mac.
  • Cookies must be enabled.
  • Pop-ups must be allowed.
  • It is recommended that Mac OSX users install Firefox as their default web-browser (unless you are using AOL, which seems to offer no problems when used on Mac OSX). Firefox is free and available for download at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Scroll down about half a page to the ''English'' line (or whatever language you desire).
*Click on the link "Download" in the second column (the Mac OSX column). This is the installer file for use with Mac. The downloader should install automatically within 5-10 minutes, depending upon the speed of your internet connection.
*Firefox will automatically detect your settings and install, just follow the prompts, and can import bookmarks and preferences from other web-browsers.
Java must be enabled on the web-browser.
*Users of Firefox will have Java enabled automatically.
*Users of Internet Explorer may have to add our web-address to the "Trusted Sites" list
  • Download Java from: http://www.java.com/en/downloadLindex.jsp.
  • For specific courses that include video or other interactive activities, you may need Shockwave, Flash Quicktime and/or Windows Media Player. In those instances, you will generally receive a message when trying to launch the activity with a link to download the software.
